So on the Casualties of War (CoW) (www.casualtiesguild.com) forums the other day I noticed that a few of the folks in there were interested in getting going in WoW again.  And I said to myself; “Self, YOU are playing WoW.  Wouldn’t it be great to get a CoW group together again over on the Rexxar server?”  So that is what we are doing.

Daevilchylde, whose idea it was to get going again in the first place, has graciously allowed the reigns of the Casualties guild over there to be thrust upon him.

We would love for anyone who is playing WoW or is thinking about playing WoW who has had anything to do with CoW or The Grouchy Gamer or I’m Talkin’ Games to get over there and help us get stuff running again.

So what are you waiting for?  Make a character (or fire up an old one)  and do a /who casualties and see who is on (there aren’t many of us yet) and ask for an invite.

Let’s find a way to play together again!  Looking forward to seeing more people on in the near future!

So you may have noticed that my posting has slowed down here a little bit.  That’s because I’ve joined Br3ntbr0 over at I’m Talkin’ Games! or ITG!

I’m excited to join a multi-author blog.  Some of my favorite blogs (I’m looking at you, KTR) are multi-author and I’m hoping that some day we can get the quality and consistency they get.  We’ve got a couple of newer bloggers to the circle I usually run in, along with old friends Oakstout and JoBildo contributing.

I’m going to keep this blog open, because I know that there are going to be things I want to say here.  Please set your readers and feeds to http://imtalkingames.com as well.  I’d love to see you all over there too.  We’ve got some exciting things planned there.  I’ll let you head over there and see for yourself.

Thanks!

F. Morrone

I never met Ferdinand Morrone.  This is his story…

Before he ever became the Superintendent of the New York Port Authority Police, Ferdinand Morrone had a law enforcement career that most cops would envy.  Born in Brooklyn, he started his career with the New Jersey State Police in 1963, and continued his education and got his PoliSci degree from Stockton State College in 1974.  He followed that up with a masters in Public Administration from Rider University in 1977.

In 1981, Justin Dintino was running the Intelligence Unit of the State Police.  He recalls;

I was running the Intelligence Unit… and he was assigned to me as an investigator.  He was a tremendous investigator.  He was like a bulldog.  I would give him the toughest cases – organized crime, solid waste, and he would always deliver the goods.  …  If he got on your tail, you might as well cry uncle, because he was going to get you.

One of the last cases he worked as a State Policeman was the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.  He was one of a few dozen cops the NJSP lent to the feds to work the investigation.  Morrone finished up his 30 years with the NJ State Police in 1993 and took his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel.  Cops like Fred didn’t just lay about the house though.  By 1996, he had taken the job as the Superintendent of the Port Authority Police, a force that is in charge of all the transportation and shipping jurisdictions in NY and NJ.  Still living in New Jersey, Fred would sometimes work at his office on the first floor of the World Trade Center, or sometimes from his office in Jersey City, depending on the day.Port Authority

I’ve always liked close up magic, and slight of hand.  This guy is really good though.  Pay special attention to how the song lyric matches the trick…

It’s Magic!

ScrappyI’ve been tagged with a meme.  I’ve avoided participating in meme-taggin exercises up until now because I didn’t want to go down that road.  Wilhelm2451 over at The Ancient Gaming Noob has challenged me to wrest me from by blog-slumber on this one though.  So here it is.  Some honest scrap for you all.

Let’s start with the premise of the meme.

CoW has a WoW guild. I say that because not that many people know about it.  We’re actually becoming a multi-game guild.  Right now, most of us are in our 40′s and many of us also have DK alts.

We’re looking for like-minded people, namely people who like to play, group, and enjoy the game with a casual gamer’s play availability, to join us.

Even if you can only play a couple nights a week, we’d love to have you.  We’re planning instance runs of both the older “classic” instances as well as the newer stuff as soon as we are level appropriate.

Holler!    [edit]  The site is http://www.casualtiesofwar.com. It looks like it’s an WA-only site, but it’s not… ask to join the WoW guild and you’ll have access to the whole site.  We’re working on a redesign to better reflect that it’s i multi-game site. The guild is on Rexxar server.  It’s an Alliance guild (yeah, I know) and you can usually find me on Duis or Duisternis.

Hey everyone, I’ve missed talking to you over the last few months as I worked through some things and have been trying to get some things in order.  I have missed pontificating and keeping track of everything that has been going on in the industry.

So I’m back.  Be careful what you ask for…

I know I haven’t written anything here in forever.  I apologize.  I think I’ll be writing again soon.  I think.

Here’s the thing;  Casualties of WAR has taken up what little time I have had lately.  Besides working and redecorating the living room (which turned out to be a much longer project than we had hoped – don’t they always?) I’ve been doing organization, planning, and working on the web site for CoW.

Please don’t give up on the blog.  We’re getting there and soon I should only be overwhelmed as the Destruction Branch GM, not that and all the other stuff too.

    Stay tuned.

War Pre-OrderThere is a beta for WAR, and I am in that beta.

That’s all the detail that my NDA allows me to disclose.  If you are wondering why I haven’t been writing much lately other than the fact that I’ve had a busy home life, it’s because I can’t write about what interests me most at the moment. It’s actually all I’m playing right now.  I’ve even gotten off of TF2, save times when they are doing something that keeps me from logging in.

I’ve now gone past the “anticipating a new game” stage to the “excited about the new game stage.
