Yeah, I'm cranky. That's kinda the point...

Mythic Works Out Scenario Queue Issues?

queueOne of the big problems that Mythic has had with Warhammer is that when one side (almost always Destruction) has greater numbers the other side levels faster because they have more readily available opponents.  This is specifically true in scenarios.

On the Destruction side it hasn’t been uncommon to wait in a queue for a scenario for an hour or more, and you would frequently have to wait a minumum of 15-20 minutes.  They just weren’t available.

All of that seemed to change last night.  Whatever they did in patch 1.0.2 to change the queue experience for Destruction on Thorgrim at least, it worked.  The result?  For me it was quite dramatic.  One full level of experience (20->21) and renown (same) ensued.  I haven’t done a level in a day since around the low teens.

What changed?  It appears they have changed the way the scenarios queue up.  I noticed that they don’t seem to be waiting to launch a scenario until it’s full like they did in the past.  On several of the scenarios, there were 6 on a side at the start, and more people entered as they queued.

This is a game-making change for me.  My big complaint about the game was the fact that one side was able, while short-handed, to advance more quickly and have more variety to their game play than the other.

I applaud Mythic for this change.  This did way more for making things equitable than providing incentives for people to play order on extremely unbalanced servers has.  Many more people are going to enjoy the benefits of this change.

  1. I didn’t really notice a big difference, but I didn’t play Destro too long last night. I got 1 scenario in about 20 minutes before I went to averheim, where I got probably 7-10 in the same time span…maybe I should just group with you to get some of the new destro scenario poppage luck :)

  2. @Brent-

I got into 12 or so scenarios last night, and so did several others. We would “queue for all” and get a pop either instantly or within 5 minutes.

  3. I’m curious if this will keep up. It could be because people are now queueing for all the scenarios (Join All). They had the ability to do so before, but maybe they didn’t know it or were too lazy to do it. Whereas before you had 5 people in this queue, and 5 in another, now you have 10 in both and the queue pops.

Or, it could just be due to the excitement of trying out the Join All and there were more people playing scenarios.

The lack of queues were a big part of me leaving Thorgrim. If they’re popping I’d definitely give destruction another shot.

  4. One thing I found disturbing on the Order side on Sylvania was people would leave the scenario thus unbalancing the sides. A warning would pop up stating if the unbalance was not corrected the scenario would be closed. We it worked once. But the other time Destruction sat and camped the Order spawn point. I counted 5 Order and maybe 15 Destruction. Unbalanced but not closed.

  5. It’s been nothing short of astonishing, the pace they’re making changes in reactions to blogs/feedback.

Less than one week after people started to worry about the XP rate of PvE, they make the first of many changes towards correcting it.

We’re not in a Blizzard game anymore, ToTo.

  6. Interesting news on RvR experience…who cares if you can’t get into scenarios if you are getting a 100% boost on exp for open RvR.

    Greetings!

With the addition of the new region-wide and RvR-wide chat channels we have seen a marked increase in Open RvR participation. In order to encourage this trend even further, we have made an additional adjustment to the experience awarded for killing enemy players in an Open RvR area. Previously we increased this amount by 50%. As of today, that bonus has been raised to 100%. With this change players killed in Open RvR will now be worth double the experience than those killed in scenarios!

As always, we will continue to monitor your feedback and work on ways to improve the RvR experience. More changes are coming, so be sure to stay tuned to the Warhammer Online Herald and monthly newsletter for the latest updates.

    See you on the battlefield!
